Product Engineer

Louis Baldinger & Sons and Baldinger Architectural Lighting is looking to expand its design/engineering staff.

 

Louis Baldinger & Sons, founded in 1893, specializes in large scale decorative lighting and custom manufacturing.  Baldinger Architectural Lighting, Inc. was founded in the 1980’s to serve the commercial and architectural lighting market.

 

The primary job function of the Product Engineer is to create designs, assembly and part drawings as well as associated bill of materials and installation instructions for lighting fixtures. The scope of work includes new products, custom modifications to existing products as well as product line extensions and design/engineering updates.

Drawings must be suitable for the fabrication and/or purchase of components and subassemblies. Work environment is fast paced and congenial.

This position reports to the Vice President of Product Development.

 

Qualifications

Strong organizational skills, especially as it relates to document storage and retrieval.

 

Must be fully computer literate and proficient in the use of AutoCAD (especially 3D), AutoDesk Inventor and/or other solid modeling drafting systems.

 

Familiarity developing multiple level bills of material, preferably using an advanced MIS company-wide software system.

 

Must have at least Master's in Industrial Design or related field and min. two+ years experience

 

Strong communication skills are required, including the ability to analyze and solve design problems and produce cost effective, well-documented solutions.

 

Additional desirable experience:

Lighting industry background, especially in the custom field

Hands-on metal shop experience

Broad understanding of materials & processes

Hand sketching ability
